CALIFORNIA STATE ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 10: Assemblymember Levine Releases Statement on Proposed 2020-21 State Budget

California State Assembly District 10 recently issued the following announcement.

Assemblymember Marc Levine (D – Marin County) released the following statement in response to Governor Gavin Newsom’s $222.2 billion 2020-21 state budget proposal.

“The governor’s proposed budget reflects California’s economic resiliency. I am encouraged that this budget proposal would lift up communities throughout the North Bay and across the Golden State while paying off debts and creating the largest rainy day budget reserve in our state’s history.”

“From historic investments in pre K-12 education, greater access for California students to enroll in our Community College, CSU and UC systems, protecting communities from the threats of future wildfires and the impacts of climate change, addressing the state’s housing and homelessness crisis, to reducing the cost of prescription drugs, California continues to lead.”

“During this year’s budget process, we must work to hold PG&E accountable for their decades of greed and neglect. When PG&E hopefully exits bankruptcy later this year, we must work to change the culture of this failed utility by prioritizing public safety over profit.”

The Legislature will begin holding public hearings on the 2020-21 budget proposal in the coming weeks. The California Constitution requires the Legislature to approve the Budget Act by June 15, 2020.
